Assuming you are taking on this
challenge,
what should you consider for Super Bowl event planning?
Begin by knowing where and when the event is scheduled.
Super Bowl itself is always scheduled on a Sunday evening,
but there are several special events that may be held either
that day or prior.
Okay, that's the easy part. Now, let’s assume you want to
organize a party for Super Bowl Sunday itself, or another
event related to Super Bowl. For great party ideas, it’s
best to look at the Super Bowl events that the NFL organizes
for inspiration.
Super Bowl Party Ideas for Super Bowl Itself
Event Name/Theme: Identify a theme that incorporates the
Super Bowl name and whatever key theme or message you want
to focus on for the evening.
Venue: Many options exist for this type of event. Consider
hosting a private event at a local sports bar (good examples
include ESPN Zone, Dave and Busters or a similar type of
venue). Or, create your own event by converting a local
hotel’s ballroom into a giant living room.
Catering: Create a buffet that includes a mix of appetizers,
entrees and desserts that can remain fresh for an extended
period of time (event planning tip: find inspiration from
any of the menus available for suites at your local NFL
team). Dinner should be setup and available about 45 minutes
prior to the game itself.
Entertainment: It’s important to hire one or more local
football/sports celebrities or football legends for this
event. Everyone enjoys meeting such celebrities, and this
will be a huge success to your event. In addition, make sure
that you include background music in the room when guests
arrive and prior to the game.
Décor: If you are creating your own Super Bowl living room
at a hotel or other venue, make sure to rent a range of
leather couches, chairs, tables and numerous plasma TVs.
Choose colors to support the favored team, as well as your
organization. You should also obtain official game banners
and merchandise. Check out the official web site of the host
committee city for official items.
Gifts: Be sure to provide NFL gear and merchandise from your
favored team for the game. It is also helpful to provide
merchandise with the hosting organization’s name or logo on
it.
If your Super Bowl event is an adult affair, perhaps you can
find some inspiration from the NFL Experience After Dark.
This is an exclusive party for adult fans and held on an
evening prior to Super Bowl itself.
This party features host stadium’s team cheerleaders, music
and celebrities. How can you create your own version of this
Super Bowl event?
Event Name/Theme: Identify a theme that incorporates the
Super Bowl “After Dark” name and whatever key theme or
message you want to focus on for the evening.
Venue: Secure VIP space or private room at a popular, local
nightclub.
Catering: Because this is more of a late night event, it’s
important to incorporate several different appetizers using
stations and passed hors d’oeuvres. And, of course,
cocktails will be expected (event planning tip: based on the
profile of your guests, it’s usually more cost effective to
purchase on consumption vs. a flat price per person with a
minimum number of hours).
Entertainment: The club will usually have its own DJ, and
it’s best to include this in the banquet event order. That
said, the best way to replicate the success of the NFL After
Dark party, hire some of the NFL cheerleaders from the team
in your hometown or city to mingle with the guests. If your
have an even greater budget, try to hire a local NFL player
to join your party as well.
Décor: Work to incorporate your organization’s name/colors
into the atmosphere of the club. Work with your club’s
special event planner to find out what ideas he or she may
be able to do to associate your organization with the NFL
After Dark party you want to create. In addition, obtain
official game banners and merchandise for the event.
Gifts: Be sure to provide NFL gear and merchandise from your
favored team for the game. It is also helpful to provide
merchandise with the hosting organization’s name or logo on
it. But remember, this is a party, so guests will not want
to carry anything large or heavy at the end of the night. If
that’s the case, showcase the gift and notify guests that
their gift will be shipped to their office or home address.
If your Super Bowl event is a family affair, perhaps you can
find some inspiration from the NFL Experience, which
includes youth football clinics, Super Bowl cards,
entertainment and more. How can you create your own version
of this Super Bowl event?
Event Name/Theme: Identify a theme that incorporates the NFL
Experience concept and incorporate the hosting
organization’s name.
Venue: Work with a local college or university to secure
their football stadium (an indoor stadium is always best).
Catering: Choose food and beverage that complements a
tailgate menu, including barbeque items, snacks, juices,
etc.
Entertainment: Reach out to the university’s athletics
department to organize children’s football clinics, small
scrimmages focusing on skills, and participatory games. Try
to organize many different concurrent programs, including
other activities such as local dance and cheer competitions.
If you have the ability to hire football legends to attend
the day, even better. Also, make sure that you include
music, whether live or DJ.
Chalk Talk: As part of your day’s events, after the formal
welcome comments, as the university coaches to hold their
own chalk talk about the teams and players at the upcoming
game. Make sure you include a Q&A session.
Gifts: Every event needs to include gifts, so consider ideas
that will be useful for the family, and pay more attention
for gifts for the children than the adults. Of course, the
hosting organizations may also wish to provide guests with
logo merchandise of their own. If you’re organizing
competitions as part of the clinics, make sure you have
awards for every child that plays.By

What is LCD
Technology?
LCD stands for Liquid
Crystal Display. This technology has been around for a number of
years but is finally able to deliver fast motion video quality
displays. The thin and light form factor is attractive to
consumers. While the panel (the set itself) looks thin, the
technology inside is quite extensive.
An LCD is made up of pixels (picture elements). Pixels are
individual, distinct, points of light. Each pixel is made up of
sub pixels consisting of red, green and blue. Together the red,
green and blue sub pixes combine to form a single color picture
element. A panel's resolution is determined in part by how many
pixels there are. A display can have hundreds of thousands of
points of light (pixels) to millions of points of light, depending
on the resolution.

The
Great Technology War: LCD vs. DLP If you are new to
the world of digital projectors, you won't have to shop around the
market very long before discovering that "LCD" and "DLP" somehow
refers to two different kinds of projectors. You might not even
know what LCD and DLP are before asking the obvious question
"which one is better?"
Want a really BIG SCREEN...then use a LCD/DLP projector and

The top 5 reasons to go 1080p
Why all the hoopla about 1080p? Most early adopters saw no
improvement from their "up-converting" DVD players, even after
going digital with HDMI™. Why? Because all they were really seeing
was enhanced 480p on a 1080i display. The early hype about 1080p
made us think it was the next big thing. Is it? New HDTVs that are
"full HD 1080p" are shipping now so let's take a look at the top 5
reasons to go 1080p.

The
truth about Plasma
screen burn-in and gas recharging
Plasma screen TVs have had some bad publicity thanks to the ignorance of
some salespeople at national retail stores. This page is dedicated to
giving you the true facts about plasma burn, so you can make your own
choice about buying a plasma TV screen.
About plasma screen pixel burn-in and dead pixels?
A lot of people worry about pixel burn-in when researching Plasma screen
TVs. Screen burn-in is when an image stays on the screen for a long
period of time, and appears to get permanently burned into the screen
itself. Screen burn-in can potentially happen, when running a computer
presentation that has fixed blocks of solid color.
However, for most plasma owners, screen burn-in will never be an issue,
and you are much more likely to upgrade your Plasma TV before anything
goes wrong. To put your mind at rest, most newer plasma TVs have a
feature called white flash·that provides correction if screen burn-in
ever occurs. There is also a calibration tool called PixelProtector that
makes sure your plasma TV is always set up to combat screen burn.
Very occasionally LCD and plasma TVs suffer from dead pixels when a
pixel is either always on (lit up when the screen is black, for
example), or the pixel is always off (black when it should have color or
be white). A few dead pixels here and there are not noticeable, and
manufacturers normally state that a small percentage of dead pixels are
allowed.
The best way to avoid any problems with dead pixels is buy a plasma
screen made by a reputable manufacturer (such as Sony, Panasonic, NEC
and Sharp), as the build quality of the plasma panels is higher you are
less likely to have problems, and if you do, the screens will have a
guarantee/warrantee enabling you to get the problem repaired or the
screen exchanged.
Do you have to "re-gas" Plasma TV screens?
This is one of the most common, and the most wrong myths about Plasma
TVs. All plasma screens are completely, permanently sealed when
manufactured. Each individual pixel in a plasma panel is sealed, and
therefore cannot, and does not ever require any refilling, or
recharging.
Next time some salesperson tells you about "re-filling" the gas in a
plasma TV, ask them how long it takes to manually insert three different
types of gas into every single pixel in the screen.
Someone told me that Plasma TVs don't have a very
long life-span, is this true?
If you buy your Plasma screen from a quality brand you will get a TV
with a rated lifetime of around 30,000 hours. What this means is if you
watch TV for five hours, every single day it will last over 16 years.
I'm guessing that you'll be looking to replace your plasma TV long
before that happens, and on average most people buy a new home TV every
eight years anyway! The lifetime of a plasma TV is measured by something
called it's "half life" (this is the industry term for the period of
time it takes for the display to appear half as bright as the day it was
first used). All different types of TV screens, including LCD lose their
brightness over time, but because it's so gradual, it's practically
impossible to notice. |
